Our 'World Host' trained staff aim to make you feel relaxed and welcome from the first point of contact right the way through your journey as a patient here at the practice. We believe in working with patients to avoid dental worries, with our emphasis on preventative care and dental insight helping you maintain a healthy mouth for life.
We have been a member of the British Dental Association Good Practice Scheme since 2011. This scheme recognises practices who keep up to date with nationally agreed standards in order to provide the best care and customer service for their patients.

We aim to provide you with a very high standard of care within the practice and hope that you never have any cause for complaint. If you do have any concerns about the service you have received from the dentist or any of the practice staff it is important that you let us know so that we can address the issue and prevent it from happening again. We operate a practice complaints procedure which adheres to national criteria.
Chris qualified from the University of Dundee in 1998 and then undertook two years of postgraduate training based at Edinburgh Dental Institute. He then enjoyed a two-year placement working in a private practice in New Zealand before returning to Scotland in 2002. Since then he has continued to work within general practice, taking over the Gentle Dental Care practice in 2010.
Chris enjoys all aspects of dentistry but particularly enjoys restoring Dental Implants, Endodontics, treating children and helping anxious patients overcome their fear of the Dentist. He has recently embarked on some further post graduate training, run by the Florida based Dawson Academy. The Dawson Academy provide dental education that for decades have proven to be the foundation for the successful practice of complete,predictable dentistry. Chris will be taught the essential principles and skills for complete care with primary concentrations in dental occlusion(how teeth meet together and move against each other),the temporomandibular joints (jaw joints) and comprehensive aesthetic dentistry.
Away from work, Chris enjoys spending time with his young family and trying to keep fit and active. He enjoys most sports but has a great love of the outdoors, the mountains and the sea.
Amanda qualified from the University of Dundee in 2014. She completed her vocational training year in general dental practice in central Scotland, before embarking on three years of further postgraduate training. During this time she worked in a variety of settings, including the Public Dental Service, Dundee and Glasgow Dental Hospitals and several Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery units, whilst also studying for her membership to the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (awarded in 2016). Amanda gained a wealth of clinical experience and skills throughout these years, particularly around provision of support and care for those patients who are dentally anxious, restorative dentistry, oral surgery and the detection and management of oral cancer.
Amanda enjoys taking time to get to know her patients and ensures that they receive their care in a relaxed and friendly environment, always with a smile on her face! She puts particular emphasis on the provision of high quality dentistry and, as such, is delighted to be part of the Gentle Dental Care team.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys keeping herself fit, mainly through running and hillwalking, whilst occasionally off setting this with her love of baking! She also loves travelling, especially around Scotland, with the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides being some of her favourite places to visit in the world.
Ching Feng qualified from the University of Dundee (2016) and was awarded the British Society of Restorative Dentistry (BSRD)Prize Award. He is also a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery(MFDS) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Committed to continuous growth, Ching completed a post-graduate qualification in Dental Education (2021) and has recently completed a year-long post-graduate implant dentistry training course in Leeds(BAIRD Academy, 2023).
Ching takes pride in providing a personable and relaxed experience for his patients, and his passion for dentistry means he often utilises photography and digital solutions where feasible, to achieve high standards of care for his patients.
Prior to joining us in June 2023, Ching completed two years of post-graduate training within NHS Fife and Tayside and worked in general practice, based in East Lothian. He has experience in academia, public and hospital dental service settings where he acquired further skills and experience in general dentistry, oral surgery and particularly restorative dentistry. Currently, he is also a staff grade dentist in restorative dentistry at Dundee Dental Hospital – where he teaches undergraduate dental students.
Outwith dentistry, Ching enjoys being a foodie, playing casual/competitive badminton (Edinburgh Badminton Academy Bronze Ladder Doubles Champion 2018!) and spending spare time with friends or playing his guitar/ukulele.
Gillian graduated from Sheffield University in 1996 and then worked in an NHS General Practice before moving in turn to Glasgow Dental Hospital, Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary and St John's Hospital in Livingston. She was one of the first Surgical Dentistry Specialist Registrars in the country and completed her specialist training programme in 2003, simultaneously obtaining a Master of Science degree from the University of Edinburgh.
Gillian spent 9 years at Glasgow Dental Hospital performing Oral Surgery under local anaesthetic and intravenous sedation and training undergraduate students and newly qualified dentists. She has worked at Edinburgh Dental Specialists' since 2011 and has developed a particular interest in implant placement and the management of the gum tissue around the implant to ensure the best possible aesthetic outcome.
Gillian is a specialist in Oral Surgery and a member of the British Dental Association, Association of Dental Implantology and the British Association of Oral Surgeons.
Lisa has worked at the practice since 2002 having previously worked in Hospitality. She has an administrative role within the practice and will usually be your friendly first point of contact.
In her spare time she enjoys cycling, pilates and socialising with family and friends. She also loves to relax by taking her dog for long walks.
Nicola has been with Gentle Dental Care since October 2012.
She initially trained as a Dental Nurse at Dundee Dental Hospital before deciding to further her training by completing the Dental Hygiene Diploma, qualifying in 2001.
Nicola then worked in Edinburgh for five years before taking a position within a private practice in Aberfeldy. Six years later it was time to move back to the Fife area to be near friends and family.
Julie started her career as a dental nurse at Dundee Dental Hosital, before completing her Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2001.
She has worked in Tayside and Angus, before joining the Gentle Dental Care team in July 2022.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and has recently developed a love for rollerskating!
Sara joined the practice in 2015 as a Trainee Dental Nurse, having previously worked in the retail sector within St Andrews. She obtained her SVQ/PDA Qualification in Dental Nursing from the Dundee Dental Education Centre in 2017. In her spare time she enjoys going to the gym and spending time with family and friends.
Lauren is enjoing her second spell working at the practice having originally joined the team after leaving Waid Academy in 2014. She went on to gain valuable experience within the community dental service and obtain her SVQ/PDA qualification from Dundee Dental Education Centre. In her spare time Lauren enjoys keeping fit, world wide travel and spending time with family and friends.
Megan joined the practice in the summer of 2022, having moved to the area to join her, now husband, who is stationed at Leuchars. She gained her dental nursing qualification in 2020 from the Glasgow Mentor Training Centre. In her spare time she enjoys walking her Spaniel, Hugo and spending time with her family and friends in Edinburgh.
Lorna joined the team in 2023 and came with a wealth of experience. She gained her NEBDN qualification at Telford College in Edinburgh in 1998 and her PDA in intravenous sedation in 2019 from Edinburgh Dental Education Centre. When she isn't cooking and being a mum to her two teenage boys, she enjoys long walks with her husband and dog, Roxi.
